WunderRec provides opportunities to create, learn and grow ones understanding of self, through recreational therapy, with an emphasis on expressive, intuitive and cognitive arts.

Expressive Arts

This is a term people are familiar with. All different types of art can be a form of expression! Having a focus on expressive arts is less about the medium and everything about the creator. We want to use art as a tool, not the outcome.

Intuitive Arts

Intuitive is less familiar to people. Have you ever had a "gut" feeling about something or someone? Has a painting ever called to you, or irked you, in a way or for reasons you cannot explain? That is your intuition at work. Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist from the early 1900s, has extensive work on the subconscious and art, and how we can understand one through the other. You don't have to be a Reiki master to tap into your intuitive expression through art!

Cognitive Arts

Who says "art" needs to end with a pen or paint brush? We believe thoughts, imagination, and strategy are all needed in and examples of art. Writing, playing games, improv, and any other task that requires high-level cognitive functioning are unique to the human experience and essential to living a healthy life. We expand our definition of "arts" to areas not always seen thought of as art, but which are valuable to a healthy, holistic self.
